#ASunVB Weekly Awards: Strausbaugh, McCombs & Creamer

MACON, Ga. - Sammie Strausbaugh is the #ASunVB Player of the Week after leading Jacksonville to a pair of wins and into third place in the A-Sun, while Lipscomb's Bri McCombs is Defensive Player of the Week and Stetson's Tiffany Creamer claims her second straight A-Sun Freshman of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday.

Strausbaugh, the A-Sun Player of the Week, averaged 3.38 kills per set, hit .333 and averaged 3.38 digs per set for the weekend in which the Dolphins earned wins against Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky. Strausbaugh tallied 27 kills and 27 digs kills in the two conference games, including a double-double of 12 kills and 17 digs versus the Lady Bisons and 15 kills and 10 digs against the Norse. Melville helped the Dolphins move into third place in the conference at 3-1 and 12-2 overall.

McCombs garnered Defensive Player of the Week after recording 33 digs against North Florida and Jacksonville. The sophomore averaged 4.71 digs per set and also contributed a pair of service aces for the weekend as Lipscomb split their matches, falling 3-1 to JU.

Tiffany Creamer earns her second straight Freshman of the Week award, helping the Hatters to a 3-0 mark for the second straight week and into sole possession of first place in the A-Sun at 4-0. She tallied 41 overall kills, (28 in conference matches) and averaged 3.73 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .333. She also added a service ace and averaged .91 digs and .27 blocks per set.

About Player of the Week
The following criteria are used by the Atlantic Sun Conference in selecting the A-Sun Players of the Week in each of the conference’s 20 sports. These criteria are used in no specific order and, in its groupings, one does not weigh more than the others:
• Statistics compiled during the week of competition
• The impact of that person’s efforts in meeting the team goals (i.e., game-winning shot, walk-off home run, etc.)
• Magnitude of the contest on the conference and national level (i.e., game meant championship, etc.)
• When individual participates in more than one game per week, how that individual performs in each of those games, effecting team performance goals
• Level of competition faced by each individual
• Each week’s performance will be considered on its own merit
• Other pertinent factors (i.e., career milestones; program, conference and/or national records)
