NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Third time was the charm for Belmont, as it won the 2006 Atlantic Sun Volleyball Title Saturday afternoon at the Curb Event Center. The second seeded Bruins defeated No. 4 Jacksonville in three games, 30-22, 30-24 and 30-11.

In game one, both teams came out swinging, with Jacksonville collecting 14 kills to Belmont's 18. The Bruins' Cat Mundy dominated the game, hitting .875 and connecting on seven of eight attempts.

After trading points back and forth in game two, Belmont went on an 11-0 run that started with a kill by Emily Cahill and A-Sun Player of the Year Colleen Nilson served each of the points. Jacksonville was able to get back into the game off of five consecutive Belmont errors, but wasn't enough as the Bruins went up 2-0.

The Bruins had more of the same energy in game three, scoring five consecutive points at the start, capitalizing on Jacksonville errors and quickly going up 18-4. Katie Hendrian, Eva Stoilova and second team All-Atlantic Sun pick Stevenique Richardson tried to keep the Dolphins alive, but were plagued by errors. The Dolphins caused a total of 25 errors to Belmont's 19.

Jacksonville's Stoilova led the way for the Dolphins with nine kills and nine blocks, followed by six kills each from Hendrian and Richardson. Shelley Walroth tallied a championship record 65 digs. Setter Una Dzalba dished out 26 assists in the match and tournament high 138 in 12 games.

Mundy tallied a match-high 14 kills, along with Tobiasz's 11 kills. Nilson dished out 45 assists.

Each match of the tournament will be archived on the Atlantic Sun website for 30 days.

Belmont will find out who they will face in the NCAA Tournament when the selection show airs Nov. 26 at 2:30 pm on ESPNEWS.
