Nashville, Tenn. – In front of a crowd of 825 at the Curb Event Center, Belmont
advanced for the first time ever to the Atlantic Sun Championship Friday evening.
The No. 2 seed and defending champion Jacksonville fell by a score of 3-0 (30-26,
30-22, 30-23).
Belmont capitalized on every opportunity, out-hitting Jacksonville by 20 kills.
The Bruins were led by Erin Janson and second team All-Conference selections
Sara Jacobson and Lindsey Cleveland. Janson posted a double-double (11 kills/12
digs), while Jacobson had 11 kills and Cleveland posted 10 kills and 6 digs.
The Bruins' defense proved to be too much for the Dolphins as they had 14 blocks
to JU's 10. Petya Borisova led the Dolphins with 11 kills and first team All-Conference
Eva Stoilova led both teams in digs with 14. She also recorded 9 kills.
Belmont will face regular season champion Florida Atlantic in tomorrow's championship
match at 1 pm.
