MACON, Ga. – After falling short in an epic five-game match against ETSU that determined the A-Sun regular season championship a year ago, the Bruins exacted their revenge over the weekend sweeping past the Lady Bucs, and snapping ETSU’s 12-match conference winning streak. Junior Cat Mundy hammered out 14 kills in the victory that capped a perfect 2-0 week for the Bruins, propelling her to her first career Player of the Week honor.
Mundy opened the weekend with a 19-kill performance in Belmont’s three-game sweep of USC Upstate Friday night before leading the Bruins past ETSU with 14 kills and two blocks Saturday afternoon. For the week, the Dallas, Texas native averaged 5.50 kills per game, and continues to pace the A-Sun in that category, averaging 4.89 on the season. The music business major also chipped in defensively, digging up 15 balls in the Bruins’ two victories.
