MACON, Ga. – Karla Readshaw gave Stetson a chance to extend its year into the postseason with an impressive match at Kennesaw State and earned her second Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honor the league office announced on Monday.
Readshaw and the Hatters nearly saw their postseason chances crushed following a deflating 3-1 loss at Mercer on Friday night despite Readshaw’s double-double (46 assists / 14 digs). However, the setter directed the offense with senior experience as Stetson outlasted Kennesaw State 3-2 on Saturday. In that match, Readshaw nearly posted a triple-double finishing with 43 assists, 11 digs and nine kills. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native wins her second Player of the Week honor of the season.
The win helps Stetson make a last gasp effort at qualifying for the 2007 Atlantic Sun Championship. The Hatters will need a victory over UNF in their final regular season conference match in conjunction with a pair of Gardner-Webb losses to Belmont and Lipscomb this weekend.
