MACON, Ga. – The Campbell Camels ended the 2007 volleyball season on a positive note with a pair of victories in the final week, and freshman outside hitter Emily Werner led the way for her squad, posting a double-double in each victory. Werner opened the week with a career-best 23-kill match, finishing with 35 in two matches, and capped her freshman campaign with her first career Player of the Week honor the conference office announced Monday.
The Sarasota, Fla. native set a Campbell-season-high in kills early in the week with 23 while grabbing 17 digs, earning the double-double against North Carolina A&T. Werner again reached double figures in kills and digs on Thursday, collecting 12 kills and 12 digs, leading the Fighting Camels to their second win of the week against Winston-Salem State. The elementary education major also recorded seven blocks on the week, four on Tuesday and three just two days later, with a pair of aces in each contest.
