Saturday, November 12, 2005 By ALEX ABRAMS, The Times-Union Jill Dunn wants to change the losing mentality that has hung over the Jacksonville University women's basketball program in its short history. But to do that, she says the team's offensive philosophy must change to one that's better suited for the Atlantic Sun Conference's fast pace. So rather than being a slow, methodical team as in years past, Dunn has implemented a three-guard set that will allow the Dolphins to rely on their improved athleticism. Whether that will result in JU posting its first winning season remains to be seen. But at least it gives Dunn a reason to feel optimistic. "I tell them every day, 'It's a work in progress [as to] what we're trying to do,'" said Dunn, who went 6-21 in her first season as a head coach. "But if they keep believing, keep working hard, keep taking care of their business on and off the court, eventually we will reap the rewards." |
