Clark Earns Back-to-Back Player of the Week Awards

Macon, Ga. -- Putting on a clinic and leading her team to a 2-0 weekend, Belmont's Alysha Clark (Mt. Juliet, Tenn./Psychology) was named Player of the Week for the second consecutive time today by the conference office.

The rookie standout averaged 29.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in victories over Clemson and Austin Peay at the 21st Annual Lady Tiger Classic hosted by the University of Memphis.

In 31 minutes of work, Clark poured in a career-high 36 points and pulled down 12 boards in an 85-62 rout of the Clemson Tigers. She shot 62 percent from the floor and was 10-of-15 from the charity stripe. Clark came back the next night, and recorded 29 points and eight rebounds in a 64-60 win over Austin Peay to claim the Lady Tiger Classic title. Clark only committed five turnovers in the two games.

The freshman was named MVP of the Lady Tiger Classic. She picked up her third consecutive double-double of the season.

The Bruins will host Indiana Tuesday night at 7:00 at the Curb Event Center.

The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Monday during the 2005 women's basketball campaign.

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.

Jennifer Lodge, CAM (Sr. - F - Port Moody, British Columbia - Kinesiology) -- Lodge scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead the Lady Camels in a 57-42 loss to Coastal Carolina in Campbell's only game last week. Lodge shot 71 percent (5-7) from the floor and 1-1 from the free throw line.

Nikki Gurley, KSU (So. - G - Blairsville, Ga. - Sport Marketing) -- Gurley scored 17 points and hit five three-pointers in the Lady Owls loss to the University of Maine.
