Kennesaw State's Clarke Earns Player of the Week Honor

Macon, Ga. -- Kennesaw State's Shavonder Clarke (Euxema, Bahamas/Sport Management) lead her team to a 1-1 record in the Lady Owls' first weekend of Atlantic Sun play and was named A-Sun Player of the Week today for her efforts.

The senior forward averaged 27 points and 7.0 rebounds in two games against Lipscomb and Belmont. In Kennesaw State's A-Sun debut, Clarke recorded a 37-point, 12-rebound night in a 69-68 overtime thriller against Lipscomb. She had a 17-point effort against Belmont on December 3. In addition to her points and rebound averages, Clarke also averaged 4.5 steals as she hit on 49 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lady Owls will be back in action tonight as the travel to Jacksonville State for a 5 pm game.

The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Monday during the 2005 women's basketball campaign.

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.

Other Top Performers

Alysha Clark, BEL (Fr. - F - Mt. Juliet, Tenn. - Psychology) -- Clark averaged a double-double over three games last week, collecting 10.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Clark shot 64.7 percent from the charity stripe and 41.7 percent from the floor while grabbing three steals and five assists for the week.

Adrienne Rieley, CAM
(Jr. - C - Hope Mills, N.C. - Criminal Justice) -- Rieley led the Lady Camels players shooting .514 from the floor connecting on 19-of-37. Rieley finished the week with a 3-0 team record and averaging a double-double, 14.7 points and 11.7 rebounds.Rieley also averaged 1.7 assists and 1.0 blocks, while committing just 1.7 turnovers.

B.J. Banjo, ETSU (Sr. - G - Baltimore, Md. - Public Health) -- Banjo has led the Lady Bucs in scoring in every game this season. In three games, she averaged 22.0 points, including a season-high 23 against Eastern Kentucky. She also dished out 16 assists, nabbed 10 steals.

Shontavia Williams, FAU (Sr. - G - Miami, Fla. - Health Administration) -- Williams scored 15 against UNF and 19 against JU. She also had six assists and committed just four turnovers many times while running the point. She also grabbed four steals.

Shameka Smith, GWU (So. - F - Bessemer City, N.C. - Psychology) -- Smith, led Gardner-Webb to a 1-0 start in conference play, scoring 15 points to go with 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Bulldogs over Stetson, 62-53 on Saturday night. Earlier in the week, Smith hauled in 23 rebounds and scored 12 points against Wofford. The 23 boards were just five shy of a NCAA single game record.

Sheena Carpenter, JU (Sr. - G - Augusta, Ga. - Marketing) -- In one contest over the weekend, Carpenter narrowly led the Dolphins to their first win to open Atlantic Sun Conference play after falling in a 24 point hole to FAU. Carpenter led the offensive assault by finishing with a career-high 25 points and nine rebounds, including a career-high 11-of-12 effort from the free-throw line.

Antoinette Reames, UNF
(Fr. - C - Winter Park, Fla. - Communications) --
Reames led the Lady Ospreys in their conference opener last week at Florida Atlantic … the 6-1 center finished tied for a team high with eight points and led the Lady Ospreys with three blocks and seven rebounds.
