Stetson Assistant Coach Bridgette Gordon Named To NCAA 25th Anniverary Women's Basketball Team

The NCAA announced Stetson women's basketball assistant coach Bridgette Gordon was recently selected as one of five members of the Division I Women's Basketball 25th Anniversary Team.

"It is really an exciting, prestigous honor and a tribute to all the hard work and effort I put into the game so many years ago," said Gordon. "Not only to be recognized and named to the team, but the company that I'm in means a lot."

A former University of Tennessee standout, Gordon helped the Lady Volunteers to national titles in 1987 and 1989 as well as Final Four appearances in 1986 and 1988. She was chosen as the Mideast Regional Most Outstanding Player and named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team in 1987, selected to the East Regional All-Tournament Team in 1988, and was tabbed the East Regional and Final Four Most Outstanding Player in 1989.

Southern California's Cheryl Miller (1983-86), Tennessee's Chamique Holdsclaw (1996-1999), Connecticut's Diana Taurasi (2001-04) and Texas Tech's Sheryl Swoopes (1992-1993) were chosen to the team.

Tennessee's Pat Summitt was named as the coach of the team. She has guided the Lady Vols to six national titles and 16 Final Four appearances in her 31-year tenure.

"It all brings back a lot of memories for me," said Gordon. "There are so many people that have contributed to my success along the way including all of my teammates and of course Pat Summitt." A native of DeLand, Fla., Gordon is in her fifth season at Stetson.
