JU's Ashley Williams Named Player of the Week

Macon, Ga. -- In a stellar week for Jacksonville, Ashley Williams (Jacksonville, Fla./Business) was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week today by the conference office.

Williams continued her dominance in A-Sun play by leading the Dolphins to a pair of wins, including the squad's third consecutive win at Swisher Gymnasium, last week.

Against Campbell, Williams finished with a team-high 15 points and tied the program record with six blocked shots to lead the Dolphins to a 63-55 win over the Camels. She continued her stellar play with a game-high 22 points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots to lead the squad to a 65-53 win over Gardner-Webb. With the contest tied at the half, Williams scored 14 points in the second frame to seal the win.

The win gave the program its first three game home winning streak since 2002-03. Williams has now scored 20 points or more on seven occasions this year. For the week, she averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 blocks, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals, while also shooting 52 percent from the floor (13-25) and a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line.

The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Monday during the 2005 women's basketball campaign.

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.

Other Top Performers

Alysha Clark, BEL (Fr. - F - Mt. Juliet, Tenn. - Psychology) -- For the week Clark shot 53.6 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line. She averaged nine boards and 17.5 points, one assist and 2.5 steals per game.

Amber Graham, CAM
(Sr. - G - Daleville, Va. - Education) -- Graham averaged 9.0 points and 11.0 rebounds as the Lady Camels split a pair of road games in Jacksonville, Fla. over the weekend.

Candace Gibson, ETSU
(Sr. - F - Warner Robins, Ga. - Physical Education) -- Gibson grabbed a team-high six rebounds, and scored 16 points in the Lady Bucs' 85-76 loss at FAU. She shot 6-of-11 from the field, and 4-for-6 at the line; also added a steal and an assist

Shontavia Williams, FAU (Sr. - G - Miami, Fla. - Health Administration) -- Wlliams scored 21 points and added 14 rebounds to lift the Owls past ETSU 85-76 on Saturday. She tied her career-high with six steals to go along with 12 points and six rebounds in just 22 minutes of work in the Owls 83-62 win over Kennesaw. Williams has amassed over 1,000 and 500 rebounds.


Andrea Dill, UNF
(Jr. - F - Bonner Springs, Kan. - Criminal Justice) -- Dill set career highs with 18 points and eight rebounds in helping lead UNF to a win against Gardner-Webb. She hit 7-of-13 shots from the field, including three shots from beyond the 3-point arc.
