Belmont's Clark Takes Player of the Week Award

Macon, Ga. – In a three-game stretch against SEC, Pac-10 and Sun Belt opponents, Belmont's Alysha Clark managed to average 17.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game, leading the Bruins to a 2-1 week. For her efforts, Clark was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week Monday by the conference office.

The sophomore forward was 18-of-28 from the floor and 15-of-22 from the charity stripe against Mississippi State, California and former A-Sun foe Florida Atlantic. Along with 52 points and 40 rebounds, Clark also added eight assists, eight steals and a block to her weekly totals.

The Bruins took a 67-60 road victory at Mississippi State, with Clark scoring 19 points and pulling down 20 boards in only 18 minutes of play. She was even 1-of-2 from beyond the arc. Four nights later, Clark picked up 13 points and seven rebounds in a 52-69 losing effort to Cal in the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament.

Avenging its loss to FAU in the A-Sun Championship last season, Belmont took a 67-65 win the in the consolation game of the Vanderbilt Tournament. Clark came away with her 20th career double-double, scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. She was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native earns her sixth career A-Sun Player of the Week award.

The Bruins will be back in action Tuesday when they host Eastern Kentucky at 7pm CT.

The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.

Other Top Performers

Adrienne Rieley, CAM (Sr. - C - Hope Mills, N.C. - Criminal Justice) -- Rieley set a career-high with 21 points lifting the Lady Camels to their first victory of the season, 81-73 over UNC Asheville.

Siarre Evans, ETSU (Fr. - G - Griffin, Ga. - Sports Management) -- Evans averaged 22.5 ppg for the Lady Bucs two contests against Applachian State and Georgetown.

Ashley Williams, JU (Jr. - F - Jacksonville, Fla. - Business) -- For the week, Williams averaged 20 points, 8.5 rebounds, three assists, 1.5 blocks and one steal per contest. She also shot 57.1 percent from the floor (16-28) and 80 percent from the free-throw line (8-10).

Jennifer Baker, KSU (So. - C - Hope Mills, N.C. - Criminal Justice) -- Baker led all scorers and KSU to a 71-45 road win at Winthrop on Saturday. She scored 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

Nicole Leonard, MER (So. - F - Gretna, La. - Undeclared) -- Leonard was named to South Carolina Classic All-Tournament team. Also posted first career double-double in win over Bethune-Cookman.

Antoinette Reames, UNF (So. - C - Orlando, Fla. - Graphic Arts)-- Antoinette Reames made the all-tournament team at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic after scoring a career high 11 points in UNF's second round game agianst Villanova.
