Monday, December 11, 2006 Macon, Ga. – Belmont's Alysha Clark picks up her sixth double-double of the season en route to weekly conference honors. In the Bruins' lone game of the week, Clark scored 23 points and grabbed 19 boards. She was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week Monday by the conference office. The sophomore forward shot 58 percent from the field and connected on 9-of-13 free throws in the 72-64 defeat of Radford last Tuesday night. Of Clark's 19 rebounds, six were offensive. She also added four assists and two steals. The Mt. Juliet, Tenn. native ranks seventh in the nation in rebounds per game and 62nd in field goal percentage. In two seasons, Clark has earned Player of the Week a total of seven times. The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007. Virginia Gregoire, JU (So. - G - Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Marketing) -- Gregoire tallied 14 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals against Georgia Tech. Rhonda Owens, MER (Sr. - G - Endicott, N.Y. - Political Science) -- Owens tied a career-high with six steals and played a career-high 38 minutes against Florida A&M. Jennifer Bowen, UNF (So. - G - St. James, Mo. - Undecided ) --Bowen finished one rebound shy of a double-double against Bethune-Cookman, leading the Lady Ospreys with 12 points and nine rebounds in the team's only game last week. |
