Stetson's Nesbit Tabbed Player of the Week

Macon, Ga. – In Stetson's lone game of the week, Jamie Nesbit shined, scoring a career-high 28 points, including dropping eight treys on Florida A&M. She was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week Monday by the conference office.

The junior guard put up career-high numbers last Saturday, helping bring the Hatters back from a 10 point deficit against the Rattlers. With two minutes remaining, Stetson tied the score at 73 before FAMU connected from the line to win the game, 77-73.

Nesbit, a native of Peoria, Ariz, went 10-of-14 from the field and 8-for-11 from beyond the arc, ending the evening with 28 points, four rebounds, four assists and a block. Nesbit's eight three pointers put her in the Stetson record books, besting a mark set by Kristen Follis in 1992.

The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.

Other Top Performers

Shauna Strayhorn, BEL (Fr. - G - Newbern, Tenn. - Accounting) -- Strayhorn was the lone Bruin to score in double figures against #14 Louisville over the weekend. She notched 12 points, just two shy of her career high, and pulled down four defensive rebounds.

Marlena Murphy, CAM (Jr. - F - Fayetteville, N.C. - Psychology) -- Murphy posted double-doubles in both of Campbell's games and set a new career-high in points in both games

Margaret Roundtree, GWU (Fr. - F - Durham, N.C. - Undeclared) -- Roundtree posted the first double-double of the season for the Bulldogs. Her 12 points were a career high and her 10 boards were the second time she reached double figures in rebounds.

Ashley Williams, JU (Jr. - F - Jacksonville, Fla. - Business) -- For the week, Williams averaged 20 points, 8.5 rebounds, three assists, 1.5 blocks and one steal per contest. She also shot 57.1 percent from the floor (16-28) and 80 percent from the free-throw line (8-10).

Stephanie Scearce, KSU (So. - C - Blue Ridge, Ga. - Communications) -- Scearce led the Lady Owls with 16 points in KSU's 10-point loss to Charleston Southern.
