Monday, January 29, 2007 Macon, Ga. – Jacksonville's Ashley Williams set the court ablaze over the weekend, averaging a double-double of 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. She was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week Monday by the conference office. The junior forward helped Jacksonville set a new program record for home wins
in a season, as the Dolphins reached nine wins against Stetson and Mercer. Against
the Hatters, Williams tallied 23 points, 11 rebounds and tied a career-high
six steals. She was 8-of-13 from the floor and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free
throw line. Against Mercer, she picked up her fifth double-double of the season,
scoring 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting and 14 rebounds to lead Jacksonville tot
he 58-48 victory. The Jacksonville, Fla. native earns her second Player of the Week award for the season and fourth in her career. Williams is the league's second best scorer, averaging 16.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007. Alysha Clark, BEL (So. - F - Mt. Juliet, Tenn. - Undeclared) -- Clark crossed the 900 point mark against Gardner-Webb with a game-high 26 points. Taylor Oliver, CAM (Fr. - G - Smyrna, Tenn. - Undecided) -- Oliver led Campbell to a near upset of Belmont on Saturday with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Michele DeVault , ETSU (Jr. - G/F - Columbus, Ohio - Education) -- DeVault scored a career-high 22 points in the 95-88 win over Kennesaw State . Brittany Harmon, GWU (Sr. - F - Virginia Beach, Va. - Biology) -- Harmon had a career-high 19 points and a career-best seven blocks against Lipscomb and tied the school record for blocks. Jennifer Baker, KSU (So. - C - Hope Mills, N.C. - Criminal Justice) -- Baker finished with 19 points in just 24 minutes, including two three pointers against ETSU. TaShera Lewis, MER (So. - F - Eastman, Ga. - Biology) -- Lewis scored Mercer's final 11 points against JU and averaged 14 points and three rebounds for the week. Tamara Hubbard, UNF (Sr. - G - Jacksonville, Fla. - Psychology) -- Hubbard came back from a knee inujry to lead the Lady Ospreys to a pair of wins, averaging 16 points off the bench. Janene Maclin , STET (Sr. - F - Chicago, Ill. - Business Management) -- Maclin put up 13 points with seven rebounds, one block and one assist against Jacksonville. |
