Monday, March 05, 2007 MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville’s Ashley Williams appears geared up for the postseason after helping the Dolphins finish the regular season with a flourish on her way to earning Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors. The junior averaged 22.0 points per game and shot .566 (17-of-30) from the floor as Jacksonville swept Belmont and Lipscomb to claim the No. 2 seed at the upcoming Atlantic Sun Championship. Against regular season champion Belmont, Williams scored 19 points as she out-dueled A-Sun Player of the Year Alysha Clark in the win. The Jacksonville native wrapped up the weekend by scoring a season-best 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting versus the Lady Bisons. The Dolphins have won a school record 20 games this season highlighted by their current eight game winning streak heading into the Atlantic Sun Championship at the Dothan Civic Center this week. Williams currently ranks as the league’s second leading scorer. She majors in Business. The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Player of the Week awards weekly during the 2006-07 women’s basketball campaign. The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
