CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Three men's basketball teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference have made headlines with wins over big programs, but the JU women's basketball team decided to start things off for the A-Sun women as the Dolphins shocked Miami, 72-64, Tuesday evening at the BankUnited Center.

JU (2-0) earned its first win over an Atlantic Coast Conference program in four tries to record the biggest win in program history. The Dolphins won the turnover battle by a 22-15 margin and finished with 16 steals compared to only five by the Hurricanes. UM (1-1) was held to only 36.4 percent shooting from the floor, including an 8:43 scoring drought in the second half, while only shooting 19 percent (4-29) from beyond the arc.

After Miami tied the contest at the 11:12 mark, 47-47, JU held the Hurricanes without a basket for the next 8:43 as the Dolphins used a 13-0 run to lead 60-47 with 2:50 remaining. UM cut the deficit to 63-58 after a three-point play by Maurita Read with 1:29 left but the Dolphins finished the game by going 9-of-12 from the free throw line to seal the win.

The Dolphins will return to the friendly confines of Swisher Gymnasium as they take on Bethune-Cookman on Friday at 7 p.m. The contest can be seen live on www.judolphins.com as part of ASun.TV.
