Wednesday, January 28, 2009 MACON, Ga. - Two teams aim to continue moving in the right direction Wednesday night when Kennesaw State visits Mercer's University Center in a special Wednesday night edition of the CSS Atlantic Sun Game of the Week at 9:00 p.m. in Macon, Ga. Kennesaw State brings a modest, two-game winning streak into the contest after sweeping its Nashville road trip last weekend. The Lady Owls escaped the Music City with a pair of two-point victories against Lipscomb and Belmont. Mercer, which sports one of the best turnarounds in Division I this year, puts its 4-1 home-court record on the line against the Lady Owls, and looks to move above .500 for the first time in 2009. The Bears will have to contain Kennesaw State's potent guard duo of senior Jennifer Baker and junior Greteya Kelley. The pair comes into tonight’s game averaging 11.9 and 11.3 points per game, respectively. Kelley is also a disruptive force on the defensive side of the bowl, ranking second in the A-Sun with a 2.71 steals per game average. Mercer counters with its own formidable pair of scorers in senior Dominique Chism and junior LaToya Jackson. The twosome ranks second and seventh in the league in scoring, respectively. Jackson, the reigning A-Sun Player of the Week dropped in 30 points against Belmont last weekend. Paul Crane and Robin Muller will have the call for CSS. Macon-area Cox Communications subscribers can catch the action courtesy of Cox Sports Television. The CST broadcast will air via tape-delay on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. For those outside the CSS market or non-Cox Communications subscribers, the game can be seen on ASun.TV. |
