Monday, January 18, 2010 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior guard Courtney Jackson recorded her first double-double of the season, while sophomore guard Ashanti Williams led the Dolphins in scoring to help the JU women’s basketball team down North Florida in overtime, 64-58, on Monday night in front of a sellout crowd at Swisher Gymnasium. Williams led three Dolphins (5-12, 4-5 Atlantic Sun) in double figures with 17 points, while Jackson added 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also had a team-high three assists and two blocks to help the cause. With the win, the Dolphins earned their eighth straight victory against the Ospreys (5-13, 2-7) and picked up another point over UNF in the SunTrust River City Rumble standings. “I’m proud of the way our kids fought today,” said JU head coach Jill Dunn. “This was a back and forth game, but our team did what they needed to do to get the victory. I’m happy with the way we came out of these three games in five days stretch. We will enjoy this win and then start getting ready for the game on Saturday.” The Ospreys got a game-high 25 points from sophomore guard Brittany Kirkland, while junior guard Juliemay Syquio added 14 points. Senior forward Arlande Cherizol pulled down a game-high 18 rebounds for UNF. |
