Stetson and Campbell Contend in CSS Game of the Week

MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun women’s basketball game of the week on CSS heads to DeLand, Fla., as Stetson hosts Campbell at 9:00 p.m. from the Edmunds Center. The game also airs on A-Sun.TV.

The meeting entertains a showdown between Campbell, the league’s top shooting team in overall play (42.5 percent) and Stetson, owner of one of the league’s overall lowest opponent’s shooting percentages, 38.4 percent. Campbell leads the series, 18-14.The last time Campbell and Stetson met, the Lady Camels’ second-half stamina pushed the team over their vis­iting A-Sun foes to a 61-46 victory. In the second period, Campbell rallied and increased its shooting margin from 25.7 percent to 53.6 percent after enveloping halftime with a 26-6 run.

Junior guard Courtney Cannon led the Lady Camels with 12 points and 12 rebounds to collect her first double-double in her CU career, to go along with four assists in the win. Sophomore guard Amanda O’Neill tallied a season-best 12 points, in addition to five rebounds, two assists and two steals. For the Hat­ters, sophomore guard Kerri Simpson tied career-highs with 18 points and seven rebounds on 50-percent shooting, while junior center Natasha Gra­boski also set career-highs with 10 rebounds and four blocks, to go along with eight points in the first match up with the Lady Camels.

On the season, junior Jessica Conner paces Stetson in A-Sun play with 12.0 points and 8.4 rebounds and ranks in the top 10 in field goal percentage with a 45.3 rate from the floor. Conner’s teammate, junior guard Tierra Brown averages 11.3 points and 3.83 assists per game. For Campbell, freshman guard Tonisha Baker tallies 9.4 points per game and ranks eighth in field goal percentage (.465). Cannon also paces the Lady Camels with 9.3 points and ranks fourth in three-point field goal percentage at a 42.4 rate from the court, while sophomore guard Kate Cloxton collects 4.50 assists per game and ranks sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.386).
