Wednesday, September 01, 2010 MACON, Ga. – On Wednesday, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced its partnership with General Shale Brick will extend through the 2010-11 athletic year.
General Shale Brick lent its name to the Men’s Basketball Championship beginning 2006. Starting in 2008, the company became the title sponsor of the combined Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships.
“The A-Sun partnership with General Shale Brick has been outstanding and we truly appreciate their commitment to A-Sun basketball,” Atlantic Sun Commissioner Ted Gumbart said. “We’ve been building together for five years and look forward to continuing this valued relationship as we promote the great qualities of General Shale Brick and the Atlantic Sun Conference.”
In addition to the Championship, General Shale Brick’s sponsorship has been a key component of the conference’s popular “Friday Night Game of the Week” television package.
“We are proud to extend our sponsorship of the Atlantic Sun Basketball Championships,” Dick Green, General Shale Brick President and CEO said. “Being the title sponsor allows us to support excellent learning institutions, their student athletes, fans and at the same time show appreciation to our customers.”
Last year a standing-room only crowd of 3,200 fans enjoyed the tournament championship game between ETSU and Mercer at the University Center in Macon, Ga.
