11 Days of A-Sun Women's Basketball: Kennesaw State

MACON, Ga. - Each day from Oct. 29th through Nov. 12th, the Atlantic Sun Conference will preview the upcoming 2010-11 women's basketball season with 11 Days of Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball. Today, we talk with Sametria Gideon, a sophomore all-conference forward for the Kennesaw State Owls.

Top Returning Scorer: Angie Smith, Junior Guard – As a sophomore, Smith led the Owls in scoring at 10.9 per game, while also adding 5.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists a game. She tallied a season-high 19 points against Longwood, while leading the team in scoring in 11 outings. Her top performance in conference play came against Jacksonville on Jan. 4th when she poured in 17 points and 8 rebounds..

Season Opening Game: Kennesaw State at Miami (Fla.), Nov. 12th at Noon - The Owls make the trek to Coral Gables, Fla. for a matchup with Miami in a noon tipoff for the 2010-11 season. Kennesaw State recorded an 11-18 season last year with a 8-12 conference mark, while the Hurricanes rode to a 22-14 mark, which ended with a trip to the WNIT Championship game. Head Coach Colby Tilley returns three starters including preseason all-conference selection Sametria Gideon to the starting lineup for his 16th season at the helm of the Owls program.

Conference Game to Watch: Kennesaw State at UNF, Feb. 20th at Noon – The Owls and Ospreys split the season series last season with both teams claiming home victories with Kennesaw State taking a 63-59 win at the KSU Convocation Center. In the road contest, UNF ran away with a 17-point victory despite double-digit games from Smith and Gia Lockett.
