11 Days of A-Sun Women's Basketball: Campbell

MACON, Ga. - Each day from Oct. 29th through Nov. 12th, the Atlantic Sun Conference will preview the upcoming 2010-11 women's basketball season with 11 Days of Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball. Today, we talk with Tonisha Baker, a sophomore all-conference guard for the Campbell Fighting Camels.

Top Returning Scorer: Tonisha Baker, Sophomore Guard – After averaging 9.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 2010, Baker tacked on Preseason All-Atlantic Sun honors to her trophy mantle after earning All-Freshman accolades last season. The sophomore guard from High Point, N.C. finished third in the A-Sun in field goal percentage (.487) and second in scoring amongst conference freshman. Her top performance of the season came in a victory against Jacksonville in which the then-freshman tied her season-high with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

Season Opening Game: Campbell at Longwood, Nov. 12th at 7 p.m. - The 2010-11 season opens for Campbell at the Longwood Tournament in which they play the host Lancers on Friday and a game on the next day against Appalachian State. Last season, the Camels opened the schedule with a 80-78 victory against Wofford at home behind four double-digit performers. With four starters returning to the team, Campbell looks to improve upon last season’s 14-16 record and 9-11 mark in A-Sun games.

A-Sun Conference Home Opener: Campbell vs. Jacksonville, Jan. 3rd at 5:15 p.m. – The final A-Sun slate for Campbell begins with Jacksonville on Jan. 3rd after the two teams each claimed a victory in last season’s series. The Camels took game one last year with an 11-point victory before falling on the road to the Dolphins by six. Baker led the team in scoring in both contests with 17 at home and 12 in the road loss.
