11 Days of A-Sun Women's Basketball: USC Upstate

MACON, Ga. - Each day from Oct. 29th through Nov. 12th, the Atlantic Sun Conference will preview the upcoming 2010-11 women's basketball season with 11 Days of Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball. Today, we talk with Chelsea McMillan, the Preseason Player of the Year and senior forward for the USC Upstate Spartans.

Top Returning Scorer: Chelsea McMillan, Senior Forward – McMillan, the 2010 Atlantic Sun Preseason Player of the Year, returns for the Spartans coming off a junior season in which she averaged a double-double with 14.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, ranking 5th and 2nd respectively in the conference. A 6-foot forward, she poured in a season-high 31 points in an 85-78 victory against ETSU last season and registered five 20-point performances as a junior.

Season Opening Game: USC Upstate at Mississippi State, Nov. 12th at 5 p.m. - The Spartans and head coach Tammy George open the new season on the road facing off against Southeastern Conference foe, Mississippi State. Last year, USC Upstate opened the season with a 78-47 victory against nearby North Greenville and finished the season with a 20-9 record and a 14-6 mark in conference games to finish in third place for the regular season. The Bulldogs enter the season after a 21-12 campaign last season and a trip to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Conference Game to Watch: Lipscomb at USC Upstate, Jan. 24th at 7 p.m. –In the Spartans-Lady Bisons showdowns last season, USC Upstate came away with the upper-hand after taking both games including a 30-point victory at the Hodge Center behind the 18-point, 10-rebound effort by McMillan. The Spartans also added a 12-point victory in Nashville fueled by Kendra Wallace’s 21-points.
