MACON, Ga. – Anna Bowers and Briana Williams both earned their first career Atlantic Sun women’s basketball weekly awards after posting impressive performances for Lipscomb and Mercer this past week. Bowers tallied a career-high 27 points and hit seven three-pointers, a NCAA-era school record, against Alabama A&M, while Williams led the Bears in scoring in both of their contests and leads all of the conference’s freshman in scoring.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Anna Bowers (Guard – Jr. – Nashville, Tenn. – Government and Public Administration)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Scored a career-high 27 point in a 77-70 OT win against Alabama A&M
• Made a NCAA era school record seven three-pointers
• Added 23 points in a 84-62 victory against Jacksonville State
• Averaging 19.3 points per game, which ranks second in the conference

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Haley Nelson (Post, Belmont) – Scored 18 and pulled down nine rebounds in season debut
• Brittany Kirkland (Guard, UNF) – Tallied 23 points in a win against Florida Atlantic
• Ashanti Williams (Guard, Jacksonville) – Averaged 16.5 points in two Dolphins’ wins
• Lauren Yesh (Forward, Campbell) – Registered a career-high 18 points, while adding seven rebounds against Wofford
• Alex Phillips (Forward, Mercer) – Averaged 9 points and 4.5 boards on the week

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Briana Williams (Guard – Fr. – Jackson, Ga. – Media Studies)
• First A-Sun Newcomer of the Week award
• Led the Bears in scoring in both games on the week with 18 at Georgia Southern and 10 against Furman
• Tops on the team in scoring with 17.0 points per game, fourth in the conference and top-freshman scorer
• Added six rebounds and five assists combined in the two contests

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Sasha Sims (Forward, Stetson) – Totaled 27 points in two games this week against USF and Georgia Southern
• Jessica Moore (Guard, Campbell) – Shot 75% from three-point range; averaged nine points in two games
• Crystal Bell (Guard, Jacksonville) – Averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds on the week
