Bucs and Eagles Remain in the Mid-Major Poll

MACON, Ga. – The second edition of the CollegeInsider.com Women’s Mid-Major Top-25 Poll featured two teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference as FGCU stayed put in their seventh-place ranking, while ETSU dropped one spot to 17th in the rankings.

The Eagles gained 96 points in the poll to jump up to 578, which is only  20 behind Illinois State in sixth place. The Eagles claimed their second victory off the season to improve to 2-0 with a 12-point victory over Troy on Sunday and now travel to the 2010 Caribbean Challenge in Riviera Maya, Mexico to face Virginia Tech and Purdue. FGCU's vicotry against Troy at Alico Arena extended its home-winning streak to 26 games, which is the fourth longest current home winning streak in the nation behind UConn, Stanford and Lehigh.

Despite dropping two games in the past week, the ETSU Buccaneers remained in the poll in the 17th spot, one place lower than last week. The Lady Bucs fell to Appalachian State at home and then lost to No. 7 Ohio State on the road. ETSU garnered 205 points in the poll, only 22 fewer than last week, and face off against Middle Tennessee on the road on Friday.

The CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll – which is in its first season with women's basketball rankings – will be released every Tuesday during the year.
