Eagles Jump to Third In Women's Mid-Major Poll

MACON, Ga. – FGCU reached its highest position in the third edition of the CollegeInsider.com Women’s Mid-Major Top-25 Poll with a third-place ranking after defeating Virginia Tech and Montana in the Caribbean Challenge. ETSU also appeared in the poll for the third-consecutive week at No. 20 after dropping three spots from the previous ranking.

The Eagles, who are 4-0 on the season, garnered 61 more points than last week to bring their total up to 639, just behind Old Dominion in second with 701 and the unanimous No. 1 Wisconsin-Green Bay at 775. FGCU's win against Virginia Tech was the program's first-ever victory against an ACC foe.

The Lady Bucs remained in the polls after playing in only one game last week, an 87-71 loss to MTSU, who is ranked at No. 8 in this week's edition. Jacksonville received votes in this week's poll after starting the season 4-1, which ranks second in the conference for wins. 

The CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll – which is in its first season with women's basketball rankings – will be released every Tuesday during the year.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.
