Friday, December 17, 2010 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women’s basketball team had four players hit double figures en route to knocking off Wake Forest, 72-66, on Friday night at Swisher Gymnasium. Junior guard Crystal Bell had a game-high 16 points and three steals off the bench to lead the Dolphins (6-3) to their first win over an ACC opponent since downing Miami, 72-64, on Nov. 13, 2007. The Dolphins shot 44.1 percent from the floor (26-59) with the help of two 12-point efforts from seniors GiGi Thomas and Lynsey Paschal. Thomas also had 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. “This was a good win for us, “said JU head coach Jill Dunn. “We played two good full halves and were able to set us up with a chance to win in the end. We have a quick turnaround for Sunday, but I know our team is ready for the challenge.” The Demon Deacons (5-5) also had four players in double figures with Brooke Thomas and Sandra Garcia each posting a team-high 13 points. Wake Forest finished shooting 35.2 percent from the floor, while the Dolphins edged the Demon Deacons in rebounds (47-43), fast break points (16-4) and bench points (36-18).
