MACON, Ga. – For the second time this season, FGCU’s Shannon Murphy earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week award after leading the Eagles to another undefeated week with wins against Lipscomb and ETSU. Freshman Destiny Mitchell continued her dominant play in the post by recording two more double-doubles against Kennesaw State and Stetson to boost her season total of six, tied for second in the conference, which earned her the A-Sun Newcomer of the Week honor for the third time this season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Shannon Murphy, FGCU (Guard – Sr. – Brighton, Mich. – Marketing)
• Third A-Sun Player of the Week award; second this season
• Led the undefeated Eagles to wins against Lipscomb and at ETSU
• Averaged 15 points, four assists and 3.5 rebounds on the week
• Scored 20 points at ETSU to snap the Lady Bucs’ 11-game conference home winning streak
• Shot 57.9 Pct from the field and 54.5 Pct from three-point range
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Victoria McGowan (Guard, Stetson) – Averaged 17.3 points, four rebounds, four steals and 4.6 assists per game
• Tara Davis (Guard, ETSU) – Tied career-high with 27 points in OT victory against the Hatters
• Haley Nelson (Post, Belmont) – Posted three double-doubles on the week including a 20-point, 12 rebound effort against UNF
• Jadhken Kerr (Forward, UNF) – Scored a career-high 21 points against Campbell with five threes
• Tonisha Baker (Guard, Campbell) – Led Camels to 3-0 week while averaging 12.3 points
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:

• Taylor Smith (Forward, UNF) – Averaged 11.3 points and 4.7 assists as Ospreys picked up first conference victory
• Brittnee Hazel (Forward, Mercer) – Posted back-to-back double-doubles against USC Upstate and Campbell
