MACON, Ga. – ETSU and Latisha Belcher protected their home court, while Stetson and Victoria McGowan claimed two road wins as the two picked up the Atlantic Sun Women’s Basketball weekly awards, announced Tuesday by the league office. Belcher compiled two double-doubles in wins against Jacksonville and UNF including a near triple-double against the Dolphins, while McGowan continued her well-rounded game by averaging 10.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and six assists.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Latisha Belcher, ETSU (Forward – Sr. – Martinsville, Va. – Sport and Leisure Management)
• Second A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Picked up two double-doubles on the week to increase her career total to 10
• Her 12 point, 10 rebounds, seven steal performance led comeback win against Jacksonville
• Compiled 14 points and 11 rebounds in 22-points victory against UNF
• On the week averaged 17.5 PPG, 7.5 APG, 7.0 RPG and 2.5 SPG
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Sametria Gideon (Forward, Kennesaw State) – Grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds against Mercer, while adding 19 points
• Tierra Brown (Guard, Stetson) – Led the Hatters in scoring in road wins against Mercer and Kennesaw State
• Rachel Swisher (Post, Belmont) – Helped Bruins snap their eight-game losing streak with nine first-half points at Campbell
• Jazmine Cooper (Forward, Campbell) – Tied career-high with 16 points against Belmont to go along with 10 rebounds
