Wednesday, June 08, 2011 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – ETSU’s Paul Hoilman and Lispcomb’s Jenna Bartsokas captured the Atlantic Sun Conference Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year honors, the conference announced on Wednesday. Hoilman, a two-time award recipient, becomes the fourth male student-athlete to claim the accolade in back-to-back years, while Bartsokas is the first Bison to earn the prestigious honor. A senior for the Buccaneers’ baseball team, Hoilman has amassed several records during his four year career including the A-Sun career marks for home runs, doubles and total bases. In 2011, he topped the conference charts in slugging percentage (.724) and homers (22), while helping the Bucs to a Division I program high of 36 wins. A two-time First Team All-Atlantic Sun selection, Hoilman garnered several accolades in 2011, including being named a Lowe’s Senior Class Award Finalist, Golden Spikes Award Watch List member and Louisville Slugger Preseason First Team All-American. He finishes his career with the ETSU school records for home runs, doubles, RBI, runs scored, walks, total bases and hits. A mathematics major, Hoilman holds a 3.95 overall GPA and has been named to the Dean’s List in each of his semesters as a student-athlete by obtaining a 3.75 GPA or above. A four-time Atlantic Sun All-Academic Selection, Hoilman repeated his title as a Capital One/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American this season. A senior guard and four-year starter for the Lady Bisons basketball team, Bartsokas finishes her Lipscomb career as the second leading scorer in the D-I Era with 1,411 points by averaging 11.9 points per game. She also stands second in career assists (295) and eight in rebounds (342). Her senior season, Bartsokas averaged 14.9 PPG – fifth in the A-Sun – en route to earning Second Team All-Conference honors. Bartsokas, an Exercise Science major, kept a 3.95 overall GPA during her four years at Lipscomb and recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA in six semesters. A member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society, she has been accepted in the Doctoral Program for Physical Therapy at Walsh University. Along with earning four A-Sun All-Academic honors throughout her career, Bartsokas was named an Academic All-American Third Team honoree in 2011 and is a two-time Academic All-District member. In May, Bartsokas received a $7,500 Postgraduate Scholarship from the NCAA. The awards were announced at the league’s annual administrative meetings during a ceremony that also saw the presentation of the league’s All-Sports Trophies and Post-Graduate Scholarship.
