MACON, Ga. - Stetson's Victoria McGowan earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Winthrop Classic in leading the Hatters to the tournament title, while Kennesaw State's Kristina Wells guided the Owls to a 2-0 week with her two double-digit point games.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Victoria McGowan, Stetson (Jr. – Guard – Inkster, Mich. – Sport Management)
- First Career Player of the Week award
- Named Winthrop Classic MVP after leading Hatters to 3-0 record and tournament championship
- Averaged 21.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 4.3 APG and 3.3 SPG
- Tied a career-high with 26 points against Niagara; Made the game-winning layup with five seconds left vs. Winthrop
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Sarah Hansen (So., FGCU) – Led the Eagles with 20 points and 13 rebounds in win against Michigan State
- Tee'Ara Copney (Jr., USC Upstate) – Has posted double-digit points in all five contests for the Spartans this season
- Natalie Pickwell (Sr., ETSU) – Netted a season-high 23 points on Monday vs. Appalachian State
- Sametria Gideon (Jr., Kennesaw State) – Led Owls to two wins while averaging 15.5 PPG and 8.5 RPG

- First Career Newcomer of the Week award
- Scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 20-point win vs. Gardner-Webb
- Added 17 points with four rebounds and three steals in win against Jacksonville State
- Tied for the conference lead in scoring and leads all A-Sun freshmen in rebounding

- Whitney Knight (Fr., FGCU) – Registered 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and three blocks in win against Michigan State
- Shanasa Sanders (Jr., Stetson) – Averaged 15.7 points per game last week; nailed six-three pointers vs. Winthrop
- Briana Bogard (Fr., ETSU) – Exploded for career-high 17 points against Manhattan; averaged 10.3 PPG on the week
- Hannah Ohl (Jr., USC Upstate) – Led the team in scoring at Vanderbilt with 13; added 10 vs. Norfolk State
