MACON, Ga. - Mercer's Briana William totaled 33 points in the Bears road victory at High Point for her fifth 30-point effort of her career to claim the Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor, while Stetson's Shanasa Sanders managed career-highs in points (24) and rebounds (8) on the week to earn the Newcomer of the Week award.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Briana Williams, Mercer (So. – Guard – Jackson, Ga. – Media Studies)
- Second Career Player of the Week award; first this season
- Scored season-high 33 points in win at High Point; shot 12-of-21 from the field
- Marked her fifth-career 30-point game; most by an active A-Sun student-athlete
- Added two rebounds, two steals and an assist in Mercer's first win of the season
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Nicoya Jackson (Sr., FGCU) – Registered 19 points vs. Richmond; added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists vs. Webber International
- Ashley Holliday (Jr., Kennesaw State) – Scored 26 at No. 16 UNC on eight three-pointers; tallied six points with four assists at No. 25 Georgia Tech
- Sasha Sims (So., Stetson) – Averaged a double-double on the week with 12.5 PPG and 10.0 RPG
- Molly Ernst (So., Belmont) – Led the Bruins in scoring in back-to-back games with 11 at Ohio; 14 vs. Indiana State
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Shanasa Sanders, Stetson (Jr. – G – Jacksonville, Fla. – Sport Management)
- First Career Newcomer of the Week award
- Scored 17 points with a career-high eight rebounds in win vs. Miami (Ohio)
- Poured in a Stetson career-high 24 points at USF
- On the week, averaged 20.5 PPG on .484 from the floor with 6.5 RPG and 2.0 APG
