MACON, Ga. - Stetson's Victoria McGowan and Shanasa Sanders swept the Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Weekly Honors, announced by the league office on Tuesday. McGowan recorded her second triple-double of the season, which leads the nation; while Sanders averaged 15.3 PPG, 8.7 RPG, shot .444 from behind the three.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Victoria McGowan, Stetson (Jr.. – Guard – Inkster, Mich. – Sport Management)
- Fourth Career Player of the Week award; fourth of the season
- Recorded second triple-double of the season - which leads the nation - at Mercer
- Recorded 29 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists against the Bears
- Hit the game-tying three-pointer against Jacksonville at the end of regulation
- On the week averaged 23.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 7.0 APG and 5.0 SPG.
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Tee'Ara Copney (Jr., USC Upstate) – Reached 1,000 career points and led Spartans to first conference win.
- Kelsey Jacobson (Sr., FGCU) –Led Eagles to a 3-0 week; hit 11 3-pointers.
- Natalie Pickwell (Sr., ETSU) –Guided Lady Bucs to 3-0 week on 17.7 PPG and 8.3RPG.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Shanasa Sanders, Stetson (Jr. – Guard – Jacksonville, Fla. – Sport Management)
- Third Career Newcomer of the Week award
- Recorded her first career double-double in a 2OT win vs. Jacksonville with 22 points and 14 rebounds
- Averaged 15.3 PPG and helped Hatters to 3-0 record on the week
- Added 14 points and six rebounds in a win at Mercer
- Tallied 10 points and six rebounds in a home win against the Ospreys
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Whitney Knight (Fr., FGCU) – Tied her career high of 20 points in a win at Kennesaw State - Averaged a team-high 12.7 PPG
- Briana Robinson (Fr., USC Upstate) – Registered 13 points in Spartans first A-Sun win of the season
- Ry'van Buchanan (Jr., Mercer) – Netted 20 points, averaged 14.6 PPG and 7 RPG in three contests.
