MACON, Ga. – Stetson's Victoria McGowan and USC Upstate's Brittany Starling secured Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball weekly honors as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
McGowan recorded her fourth career triple-double vs. Lipscomb, becoming one of only two active Division I women's basketball players with four career triple-doubles. Starling is leading all A-Sun freshmen in league games with 11.7 points per game and 7.5 rebounds.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Victoria McGowan, Stetson (Sr. – G – Inkster. Mich. – Sports Management)
- Seventh Career Player of the Week award; third this season
- Captured her fourth career triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in win at Lipscomb
- Became one of only two active Division I women's basketball players with four career triple-doubles (Brittney Griner, Baylor)
- Shot 54 percent from the floor and 60 percent from behind the arc vs. the Bisons
- Scored a game-high 23 points vs. Northern Kentucky
- Secured six rebounds and three steals against the Norse
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Sarah Hansen (Jr., FGCU) – Recorded 18 points in just 18 minutes of action vs. Lipscomb
- Nicole Adams (Fr., Kennesaw State) – Landed a career-high 23 points vs. ETSU
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Brittany Starling, USC Upstate (Fr. – C – Sumter, S.C. – Physical Education)
- Second Career Newcomer of the Week award
- Averaged a double-double with 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds
- Led the team with nine rebounds and 14 points vs. KSU
- Landed her fourth double-double of the season vs. Mercer
- Went seven-of-ten from the floor vs. the Bears
- Posted a team-high in either points and/or rebounds for the last 11 contests for the Spartans
- In conference games, ranks No. 8 in scoring with (11.7) and No. 7 in rebounding (7.5); the best of the A-Sun freshmen
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Queen Alford (Fr., Jacksonville) – Recorded 20 points, 10 rebounds and six steals in the win vs. North Florida
- Jaime Gluesing (Fr., FGCU) – Shot 50 percent from behind the arc in the Eagles two victories
- Tiana Burley (So., ETSU) – Landed a double-double in three of her last seven games
