Macon, Ga. -- Stetson's Nefertiti Walker (Atlanta, Ga./Business) earned the
final Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award as announced today by the conference
office.
The senior guard helped Stetson to a 1-1 week in conference play to secure a
spot in the 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. Walker averaged 27.5
points and 5.0 rebounds a game. She was also a perfect 15-for-15 from the free
throw line and racked up eight three-pointers, five blocks, and four assists.
In Stetson's 66-60 win against UNF Thursday, Walker tallied a career-high 35
points, including 26 in the second half. She went 10-for-17 from the floor and
4-for-8 from beyond the arc. The guard also tied her personal best while going
11-for-11 in free throws.
Against Jacksonville Saturday, Walker recorded a team-high 20 points and a career-high
four blocks while going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Walker leads the conference and is among the national leaders in scoring (21.5)
and free throw percentage (91.9). She is also tied for the lead in three-point
field goals made (2.92 pg). Walker also surpassed the 1,000 career points mark
Thursday evening and is just six points shy of setting the new school record
for single season points with 560 this season. She is also just two three-pointers
shy of setting the school single season record with 76 this season.
The 2006 Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Tournament kicks off March 9 in Dothan,
Ala. at the Dothan Civic Center. The eighth-seeded Stetson will take on top-seed
Belmont in the quarterfinals Thursday at 1:00 pm (CT).
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.

and 17th double doubles of the season as the Belmont women's basketball team
clinched its second Atlantic Sun regular season title. She averaged 17.5 points
and 16.5 rebounds per game for the week.
B.J. Banjo, ETSU (Sr.
- G - Baltimore, Md. - Public Health) -- Banjo averaged 12.5 points 5.5
rebounds in the 1-1 week against Campbell and Gardner-Webb. She grabbed a team-high
7 rebounds in the win at Campbell. She scored a team-high 14 points against
GWU.
Ashley Williams, JU (So. - F - Jacksonville, Fla. - Marketing)-- Williams finished 8-of-12 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the line
to go along with six rebounds and two steals against Stetson. Against Mercer,
Williams finished with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field.
Sarah Russell, MER (Jr. - F- St. Simon's Island, Ga. - Communcations)-- Russell
narrowly missed a career-high in points Thursday, scoring 19 points in the win
over JU. She notched her fifth career double-double Saturday in the win against
UNF.
Candyse Kelly, GWU (So. - G - Mableton, Ga. - American Sign Language)
-- Kelly averaged 20.5 points to go with six rebounds, four assists and two
steals a game and shot 48.4 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free
throw line while averaging 32.5 minutes. Her 25-point outburst on Tuesday against
KSU marked the highest single-game scoring performance of the season for Gardner-Webb.
