Women's Cross Country Poll Announced

Thursday, September 01, 2005

Macon, Ga. - Just like the men's team, the Belmont women's cross country team leads the 2005 pre-season poll, having won the past four Atlantic Sun Championships. The ladies received seven first place votes from the league's 11 head coaches.

The Bruins received a total of 116 points, followed by Florida Atlantic (102), Campbell (94), Kennesaw State (81) and North Florida (68) rounding out the top five.

"It's an honor to be ranked first and a testament to what we've done in the past," said head coach Seth Sheridan. "We have three of our top four runners returning, so if we're all healthy we should do well. We're excited, but we have some work to do."

The Cross Country poll serves as the conference standings and is announced on the 1st and 15th of the month during the season.

The Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championship will be held Saturday, October 29, 2005. Campbell University will serve as host.
