Campbell's Valtin Picks Up Second Female ROTW Award

MACON, Ga. -- Campbell's Alicia Valtin earns her second Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week award this season with a victory at the Gardner-Webb Invitational. Valtin dominated the field of 53 runners, winning the 4K race in 15:10.

The senior won by 27 seconds against a field that included four A-Sun schools. It is the the third top 5 finish for the Sanford, N.C. native. Campbell finished 2nd as a team. She is majoring in Elementary Education.

The Camels will be back in action Oct. 14 when they compete in the Winthrop Invitational.

The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Athlete of the Week every Wednesday during the 2006 cross country season.

The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.
