Belmont Retains Top Spot in Cross Country Poll

Macon, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference today announced its final 2006 Women's Cross Country Coaches Poll of the season. Belmont retains the top spot, receiving 87 points.

UNF claimed second with 75 points and one first place votes, while Kennesaw State earned 74 points and two first place votes. Campbell (62) and Jacksonville (47) round out the top five. Kennesaw State did not participate in the poll.

All 10 teams will be in action Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Atlantic Sun Championships held at Gardner-Webb. The women will race at 9 am and the men will begin at 10 am. The Cross Country poll serves as the conference standings.

The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.
