FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University has announced the hiring of Cassandra Goodson as the Men's and Women's Cross Country Head Coach. Goodson will fill the vacancy left by Chris Highfield, who served as head coach until he resigned in July.
"Cassandra is going to be an outstanding addition to our staff," said Athletic Director Carl McAloose. "She brings a great deal of enthusiasm with her and has great recruiting contacts throughout the country. I believe she has all the tools to build a special program at FGCU."
Goodson comes to FGCU after serving with the Southern Miss track and field and cross country program as the head cross country coach and an assistant coach for track and field for the past two years.
"FGCU has all the tools and attraction needed to build a great program,” said Goodson. "I am really excited about the growth of the university and the athletics program and I look forward to being part of that growth."
Prior to coming to Southern Miss, Goodson spent the past year competing professionally throughout the U.S. in sanctioned USA Track and Field road races.
