Thursday, July 01, 2010 JU track & field head coach Ron Grigg has an another award to add to his crowded trophy shelf, receiving the “Outstanding College Coach” honor by the Jacksonville Track Club at its annual banquet on June 27th. Grigg took home the honor after helping the Dolphins to their fifth straight Atlantic Sun Conference Championship sweep by setting point records at the indoor (212) and outdoor (247) meets, while also leading cross country team to their first conference title. With the three titles, the Dolphins became the first A-Sun school to win the Triple Crown. JU also had six athletes qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, while Charlene Charles was one of two freshmen to earn a spot into the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships. “I am grateful for the recognition from the Jacksonville Track Club,” said Grigg. “Coaches win awards when they are fortunate enough to have talented athletes, and support from assistant coaches and administrators. That is exactly what the track and field program at Jacksonville University has.” |
