Pierre Earns First Career A-Sun Honor

MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville sophomore Joane Pierre picked up her second accolade of the week as the Immokalee, Fla., native earned the Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week award after winning the UF Mountain Dew Invitational. Pierre’s time of 17:33.50 broke the previous school record of 17:49, which stood for 17 years before Pierre’s performance. Along with Pierre’s finish at the Florida meet, the Dolphins finished second overall ahead of three A-Sun teams, Miami and South Florida.

RUNNER OF THE WEEK:
Joane Pierre, Jacksonville (So. – Immokalee, Fla. – Management)
• First Career A-Sun Runner of the Week award
• Claimed UF Mountain Dew Invitational individual title with her time of 17:33.50
• Time broke the 17-year-old school 5K record
• Jacksonville finished second overall at the meet

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Nicole Muldowney (So., Belmont) – placed seventh at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic
• Mackenzie Howe (Sr., Kennesaw State) – set personal record in 5K Crimson Classic; finished second
• Barrie Cohen (So., FGCU) – broke the school and sophomore record at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational
