Tangwar Crosses Finish Line First for Second Time this Season

MACON, Ga. – USC Upstate's Joan Tangwar continued her successful 2011 season by winning the Charlotte Invitational in a program record time of 16:53.7 in the 5,000-meter race to earn her fifth-career Atlantic Sun Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award.

WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK:
Joan Tangwar, USC Upstate
(Sr. – Eldoret, Kenya – Biology)
• Fifth Career Runner of the Week award; tied for fourth all-time in the A-Sun
• Set a program record in the 5K with a time of 16:53.7 at Charlotte Invitational
• Won her second race of the season ahead of 289 other competitors
• Helped the Spartans to an 11th-place finish out of 36 teams

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Tessa Hoefle (So., Lipscomb) - Finished 39th out of 262 runners at Greater Louisville Classic
• Joane Pierre (Jr., Jacksonville) - Won the FLRunners.com Invitational for the second-straight year
• Isabelle Grosskopff (Fr., ETSU) - Placed fifth out of 257 runners in Blue Division race of Greater Louisville Classic
• Nicole Muldowney (Jr., Belmont) - Completed the Charlotte Invitational in 26th place with a personal-best 17:53.24 time
