Lipscomb Dominates Women's #ASunXC Preseason

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb came out on top as the favorite in the Atlantic Sun Preseason Women’s Cross Country Coaches Poll, announced by the conference office on Thursday. The Bisons have two-straight A-Sun Championships.

The Bisons will look to become the third A-Sun team to win three consecutive championships.

LU received the unanimous first-place spot with top-runner Dani Walker voted as the Preseason Runner of the Year after finishing third in the 2012 A-Sun Championship with a time of 17:23.4. Lipscomb returns all seven of its top finishers in the 2012 A-Sun Championship with Walker and Tessa Hoefle both crossing the line in the top-five.

Walker came away with the A-Sun Fan voted Preseason Runner of the Year Honor as well, with an overwhelming 112 votes from the fans.

North Florida came in second in the preseason poll with 86 points. The Ospreys have finished in the top-two at the A-Sun Championship in the past three years.

Following UNF is Jacksonville at No. 3 with 78 points. The Dolphins return Svenja Meyer who finished sixth at last year’s A-Sun Championship.

ETSU and Kennesaw State round off the top-five in the preseason poll with the Buccaneers garnering 71 points and the Owls receiving 59 points.
