Macon, Ga. - Belmont sophomore Lauren Williams (Nashville, Tenn./Exercise Science)
was named Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week today as announced by the conference
office.
In her first meet of the season, Williams finished third at Saturday's Western
Kentucky Old Timers Classic. She posted a 5K time of 17:31.10 and helped the Bruins
to a second place team finish at the meet. It was her fourth top-five finish in
two seasons and her time was the fastest 5K time posted by a Belmont runner since
the 2001 season. Her mark is also the fastest in the league so far.
The Bruins head to Notre Dame to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational.
The Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the
2005 cross country season.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
