Macon, Ga. - In her second victory of the season, senior Patrina Hayes (Pontiac,
Mich./Physical Education) was named Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week today by
the conference office.
Hayes cruised to victory as the Lady Owls captured the 2005 Georgia Collegiate
Championships last Saturday in Macon, Ga. Hayes ran the 5K in 17:23.00 and won
the race by 23 seconds over runner up Hillary White of SCAD and topped third
place finisher and former KSU runner Irina Watkins of North Georgia by 36 seconds. She also garnered All-Georgia first team honors.
A transfer from Oakland Community College in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Hayes
is a Divison II All-American in cross country and track. She owns the fastest
time in the league this season.
On October 8, The Owls will head to Auburn, Ala., to compete on the Auburn Invitational.
The 2005 Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Campbell
on Oct. 29.
The Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the
2005 cross country season.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
