MACON, Ga. - Brittany Thune will enter next month’s Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championships off a personal best 5K time at the Evansville Invitational and as the final recipient of the A-Sun’s Female Runner of the Week award, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Thune, a two-time All-Conference performer, picked up her second Runner of the Week award this season by joining Kennesaw State’s Mackenzie Howe as the only two A-Sun women’s runners to break the 18-minute barrier this season. The business administration major from Sioux Falls, S.D., finished fourth out of 188 runners, setting a career-best time and helping Belmont finish fourth out of 19 teams in the meet.
The Atlantic Sun Conference is an 11-member league committed to Building Winners for Life. Mackenzie Howe, Kennesaw State (So. - Watkinsville, Ga. - Health and Exercise Sciences) -- Placed second at the Front Runner Invitational with a time of 11:11, out of 47 competitors;
Emily Tangwar, USC Upstate (So. - El Doret, Kenya - Nursing) -- Posted a second-place finish among some of the top-tier, reputable teams in the northeast, finishing before all runners from Clemson, Miami, High Point, Davidson, Elon, Charlotte, Campbell and ETSU, among others.
