BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Alejandra Shaw shot a two-over 74 and Campbell stands in a tie for 16th place after 18 holes Thursday of the NCAA East Regional Women’s Golf Championship at Bryan Park.

Louisiana State and California both turned in even-par team totals of 288 to take a four-shot lead over third-place Tennessee (292) in the 21-school event. Campbell is tied with Augusta State and Yale at 308 strokes, one shot behind third-ranked Arizona State in 15th.

Jenny Suh of Alabama leads the 107-player field by one stroke after a seven-birdie round left her at three-under 69.

The top eight teams and two individuals in the 54-hole event advance to the NCAA Championship, held May 23-26 at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. Through 18 holes, South Carolina, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and host Wake Forest are locked in a four-way tie for sixth place at eight-over-par 296, 12 strokes ahead of the Fighting Camels.

Shaw, the Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Golfer of the Year, had 13 pars and four bogeys in her opening round, but she eagled the par-5 number-15 hole and finished at plus-two.
