Pena, Bejgrowicz Claim A-Sun Weekly Golf Honors

MACON, Ga. – FGCU’s Brandon Pena finished in a tie for second at the Rice Intercollegiate while Campbell’s Sarah Bejgrowicz claimed her second collegiate title to win the Atlantic Sun Men’s and Women’s Golfer of the Week awards, the conference announced on Wednesday.

MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK:
Brandon Pena, FGCU (Jr. – Clewiston, Fla. – Civil Engineering)

  • First A-Sun Golfer of the Week award
  • His final round was highlighted by another 33 on the course’s front nine
  • Shot 72/69/69/210 (-6) for a three-way tie for second at the Rice Intercollegiate
  • Recorded this third top-five of the season
  • Tallied 10 birdies against just four bogeys
  • Went bogey-free on the front nine over the two days with seven birdies

 

OTHER NOMINEE:

  • Josh Cone (Jr., Mercer) - Booked a two-round total of 144 to win the Frito Lay AT&T Intercollegiate individual title by two strokes. Cone’s final round 69 (-3) was his best 18-hole score on the season and helped Mercer to a first place finish at the event

WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK:
Sarah Bejgrowicz, Campbell (Sr. – Lancaster, Pa. – Business Administration)

  • First A-Sun Golfer of the Week award
  • Won the individual championship and led Campbell to a season-best second-place finish at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic
  • Claimed her second career collegiate tournament
  • Shot rounds of 69-71-76/216 for an even-par total
  • Her 69 marked her lowest 18-hole score this year
  • Recorded eight birdies throughout the tournament
