Stetson’s Cate Named Women’s Golfer of the Week

MACON, Ga. – Stetson’s Lauren Cate shined in the rain in her hometown at the World Golf Village Intercollegiate, taking second to win her first Atlantic Sun Women’s Golfer of the Week honor, the conference announced on Wednesday.

WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK:
Lauren Cate, Stetson (Jr. – St. Augustine, Fla. – Finance)
• First A-Sun Golfer of the Week award
• At World Golf Village Intercollegiate in her native St. Augustine, finished in second among 51 golfers
• Led Stetson to a second place finish
• Has finished in second place in two of her last three starts

OTHER WOMEN’S NOMINEES:
• Kristen Boettcher (Sr., Jacksonville) – Finished in ninth at the World Golf Village Intercollegiate; her fourth top-10 finish this year
• Janet Steen (So., Belmont) – Tied for fifth at the rain-shortened Belmont Women’s Invitational; her third straight top-10 finish of the spring
